Help needed!

The Hancock historical museum is hosting an Exciting Eclipse event on March 23rd. They would like a couple more volunteers from the Findlay Elks to help. The event is Saturday, the 23rd from 5-8:00. You can do half the time: 5-6:30, 6:30-8:00 or the whole time 5-8:00. There will be games, crafts activities. Let Denise Heilman know if you would like to help.

Dues are Due

Just a quick reminder that if you haven’t paid your dues yet, you should do so quickly. April 1 is when they are due and there are currently 192 of you that haven’t paid yet. The lodge depends on dues income to do the great things in the community that we are known for. If you don’t pay your dues by April 1 then you aren’t eligible to win any of the drawings in the lodge. Some of them are over $1000.

Did you know?

Did you know that the lodge met its Elks National Foundation (ENF) per capita from the last lodge year ($4.80 per member). That enabled us to apply for ENF grants that help those in our community.

Todd Phillips is our ENF grants coordinator. He is administering our Beacon grant ($4000). That grant is designed to help veterans in need. He went Christmas shopping for veteran families in need so they could have a nice Christmas. This grant also helps veterans in need with groceries, personal hygiene items, home repair and household furniture.

Our spotlight grant was donated to the Bigelow Hill School Lunch program ($1000). There are many kids who don’t have enough to eat and this grant helps to fix that issue. The other recipient of the spotlight grant was CHOPIN hall ($1000). They help hundreds of people with food, clothing and many other basic needs every year. This grant helps them buy some of these very needed items.

Our gratitude grant was donated to Awakening Minds Art ($1250). They use art as a therapy tool to reach and calm kids and seniors who are developmentally disabled. As is the case with everything, art supplies are getting more and more expensive. This grant helps AMA achieve their mission. The other recipient of the gratitude grant was Hancock Christian Clearing House. Their mission is similar to CHOPIN Hall, they provide basic necessities to those in need in our area. The grant money makes that mission easier.

Thank you to all who have donated to the Elks National Foundation. Your gift truly helps others in ways you will never know. Please consider giving $10 when you pay your dues.

It’s Calendar Time Again!

The Ohio Elks Buckeye Bucks calendars are available behind the bar. They make for awesome Christmas gifts. Our lodge had three winners just last month.

Here’s the drill. You get 730 chances to win between $50 and $500. The best part is you don’t need to keep track of anything. If you are a winner the money is sent to your home automatically. They are only $20 and our lodge gets to keep $5 of that. The other money goes to the OEA for all of the great work they do. The number on the calendar (or card) is tied to the Ohio Lottery Pick 4 contest. If that number is selected, you are a winner! Be popular at Christmas time!

Join the Thursday Night club!

We have many numbers available for you or your spouse. Yes, your spouse! It has been decided that you may purchase numbers for your spouse so they can also participate in the Thursday night club drawings and the Prime rib dinner/reverse raffle on election night. 51 chances a year to win $100, a free dinner, and an opportunity to win big money- all this for just $1 a week!
